Information you need to know
The Day Before Your Procedure/Surgery
- A staff member will be calling you about your upcoming procedure/surgery. You will be asked about your health history, medications, and previous surgeries, so please have that information available.
- Your procedural/surgery time will be confirmed via phone three days before your surgery. We will leave a message if we are unable to speak with you directly. Please note times are subject to change. In the event a change is necessary, you will be notified as soon as possible.
- We will contact your insurance company prior to your procedure and verify eligibility and benefits. We will estimate your applicable coinsurance and deductible which is due prior to or on the date of your procedure.
- Please arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours after procedure/surgery.
- If you have any questions, please contact your physician’s office.
The Day Of Your Procedure/Surgery
- You will receive a confirmation call approximately 3 days in advance of your procedure/surgery to confirm your check in time. Please arrive promptly at the time you are given.
- Do NOT eat anything after 11 PM the night before your surgery. Depending on the time of your surgery, you may be able to drink clear liquids (water, black coffee, tea) until 7 AM the morning of your surgery. You will receive specific instructions regarding this during your confirmation call.
- Remove all jewelry including body piercings. Remove contact lenses or bring a storage case and solution. Do not wear make-up, body lotion, perfumes/colognes or hair products.
- Leave all valuables at home, but bring your insurance card, ID and any required payment (check, credit card and exact cash are accepted)
- Bring someone with you who is authorized by you to speak to the physician regarding your procedure and post-procedure care. This person may need to authorize changes during your procedure and should remain in the waiting area.
Advanced Directives
While the management of this center understands the importance of patient’s wishes pertaining to Advanced Directives, including Do Not Resuscitate, Living Wills, and Medical Power of Attorney, the Governing Body has set the policy that, due to the nature of services and types of patients admitted to the center, physicians will use all measures possible to sustain life. Patients will be transferred to the nearest hospital emergency facility.
Your physician may have ownership in Gateway Surgical Center where you are having your procedure. As with all of your care, you may request to have your procedure performed at another facility where your surgeon has privileges to practice.
